What Is a Modular Water Tank and How Is It Installed?
A modular water tank is a storage system assembled on site by bolting standard steel or composite panels together — and it can be dismantled and relocated just as easily. Unlike one-piece tanks, it travels panel by panel through narrow doorways and into hard-to-reach sites.
How Does the Panel System Work?
Tanks are built from 1.08 × 1.08 m full panels and 1.08 × 0.54 m half panels. By adding panels side by side and tier upon tier, any capacity from 1 m³ to 1,000 m³ is built to the same standard.
- No cranes, no welding — heavy equipment is simply not needed
- Capacity can be expanded later by adding panels
- The tank can be dismantled and moved to another site
Stepped Sheet Thickness
The taller the water column, the greater the pressure at the base. That is why thicker sheet is used in the lower tiers and thinner sheet higher up; thickness is stepped between 1.5 and 5 mm according to hydrostatic pressure. This delivers both safety and material efficiency.
On-Site Assembly
Installation is completed in four steps:
- Site survey: Volume, ground and access conditions are assessed on site.
- Engineering: Structural calculations and the stepped sheet-thickness plan are produced, and the drawing is approved.
- Manufacturing: Panels are formed and coated at our plant and numbered in assembly order.
- Assembly: Panels are bolted together on site, the tank is leak-tested and commissioned.
Why Choose a Modular Tank?
From drinking water to fire reserves, from agricultural irrigation to industrial process water, the range of applications is wide. Fast installation, relocatability and scalability make modular tanks the stronger choice over conventional concrete and one-piece tanks in most projects.
